Who do you think has been the best dubstep leader
I have to write about an industry leader in class ans I want to write about dubstep. Now dont confuse leader , with pioneer. A leader must conciously motivate and influence followers. not necessarily just make new crazy bass music that everyone likes. Get my drift? So what dubstep figure do you think actively lead dubstep to what it is today? I have to write about methods and characteristics of this leader so im hoping theres some documentation of ways this leader pushed and motivated dubstep onto ppl somewhere on the internet somewhere..
Excuse my shitty writing. Im on a cell phone..

A lot of DJ's have their ups and downs, but I don't really think anyone in particular is pushing all sides forwards as a whole. We're all leading it together. Some shifting more weight than others (moaners).

I would say geeneus has had a huge influence on what we hear, bass music wise, with his role in Rinse. Without him and his crew, we wouldn't have heard all these fantastic shows over the years that have literally changed what's going off on dance floors around the world. shows like youngsta, nightslugs, hatcha, distance, stella sessions, dusk & blackdown, antisocial, etc.... Rinse has had a huge impact imo

Re: Who do you think has been the best dubstep leader
hmm, i was looking at it from more of a perspective as who has a big hand in giving others access to the sound
if it wasn't for rinse podcasts on barefiles back in the day, i wouldn't have heard about dubstep until 07 or summat
with that in mind i would also like to add deapoh
he's done a lot...
also them get darker boys and MAH as well
without these people running the radio, it would have been impossible to hear a lot of this music
they really globalized the sound(s) imo and made it available to everyone with internet access
Thankfull!

I think Fractal is on the right track in this thread. I'd add MAH, as I think she's been vital to the growth of dubstep(she was in the same position for IDM, as well)

not skream.
Hatcha, Youngsta (not the whole of dubstep but he really mentors his dubplate crew), Artwork, Mala.

With Skream's latest drunken outbursts I don't think he's a suitable candidate for "Best Dubstep Leader".
Would have to agree with Mala. He seems like he has the most respect of his peers.

skream has done the most for the sound musically, no doubtMolzie wrote:With Skream's latest drunken outbursts I don't think he's a suitable candidate for "Best Dubstep Leader".
