Hey I was wondering if anyone here new what the compression curve is like. does compression only happen around the threshold or does it effect everything above it as-well?
Thanks yo.

itll be like every other compressor and compress above the threshold.

what i mean is, if i put the threshold to say -30, is everything above compressed. I want to know if its good for upward compression. say the waves c1 only compresses around the threshold so the upper dynamics are preserved.

macc has one of these and I bet he would know.

Your question is vague and borderline meaningless. Every compressor affects stuff above the threshold, it's the defintion of threshold after all. Sorry, just no idea what you're asking to be honest.
It has a soft/med/hard knee option, which affects how it responds below the threshold, if that's what you mean... In practice, once the box is set up just right I find that soft has the expected, err, softer/gluey effect whereas hard is clearer, a bit punchier sounding if a tad more obvious... but that all relates to stuff under the threshold. So I refer you to the first part of this post
Have people been reading the internet again?

Thanks for joining macc. Haha I was reading a bob kats book. I'm trying to figure out how to explain it I wish I could just draw it. so with the waves c1 it compresses at the threshold and then further up the line the ratio returns to 1:1. Fuck sorry this probably sounds retarded.

A guy on another forum said it doesn't.
he said;
"No, not that I'm aware of. Even though it has tons of controls, it functions are pretty straight forward. The Elysia stuff does all that crazy inverted stuff
The API's tone is really ballsy and cool. I don't think there's a substitute for it... if you're looking for that sound."
I was just thinkin' about pickin' up the waves version and thus doing some research. I would like to get the actual one but I need to fix my teeth first.

Oh, I see what you mean, sorry! No, it doesn't do that.
The tone of the box is in the transformers and opamps - the make up gain is a thing of beauty. Doesn't work on everything but when it does, it really does. Magic fairies live in that knob.

Sorry I was a bit rude, I just didn't get the question
Great box - really really good sound, flexible, plenty of tricks up its sleeve
