Hi, this is my first post on these forums. I've been messing around with production for about 2 months now and here is my first actuall attempt at producing music of anykind. It starts off as regular techno but recently I've been discovering Dubstep so it switches to that near the end. As it's my first attempt I in no way expect it to be very good, i am just posting it for constructive critisism.

Re: First attempt
The beginning works well for what you're doing but the part that comes in at .56 sort of skips around the beat weirdly to me. Also, you need some bass there! I mentioned it on someone else's WIP but bass is gonna be necessary to make your track sound phat and fill it out. Also, try and incorporate other sounds and drum accents. Listen to some more dubstep/bass music. Girl Unit, Zomby, Burial, Jamie XX, check out what they do with their drums. They're all distinct and different from one another yet they all have a signature style in production. The main thing I'm trying to get across is that dubstep is so much more than just a 'sick' wobble. Sure, you can use it and make it sound nasty like Zomby, but you can also not use it and have a song still be massive like Burial or even some Skream songs.
Mainly try to fill out your tracks where you feel they are empty and make them more bare where you there's too much going on. Doesn't really apply to this since it was just a WIP/practice, but utilize layering and then taking back the layers to create tension and a dynamic song that stays interesting.
