Bassweight = The feeling that you can't breathe anymore when Pinch drops Qawwali on the 50 000W

I guess how prominent the bassline of a tune is determines it's 'bassweight'. Also if a tune has a proper low slung bassline, like SP:MC - Down or something you are more likely to hear someone refer to it's 'bassweight' than a tune with a bassline higher up the frequency range, even if they are the same level in the mix, ya get meh?

i suggest starting at around 35hz. bassweight is the pressure, the physical side of music you feel when you hear a tune on a nice system

35hz is really low, I was under the impression that most systems struggle under 40ish :S just play a low E

Bassweight for me usually means when the bassline really cuts through the mix and you can feel its power! Of course that usually means the tune has a decent amount of sub.

Doesn't have to be those styles of system exclusively. Local Void driven soundsystem round Thanet pushes NUFF weight.

Enter a dark room with a powerfull system and a quality dj playing the darkside. Go in high. The bassweight is the stuff that makes you want to drop your eyes to the floor pull up your hood and get transported to a personal space designed to your exact specifications.

Bassweight moves you physicaly and resonates with your body. Bassweight can't be heard (so don't go looking for it on your computer with shitty speakers and subs) You feel it, it can only be felt on a rig, it is the moment you and the producer hear it on equal footings and both understand it fully at the same moment.

Bassweight is like god but real! Bassweight can't be seen or heard, it leaves us feeling profound after we come into contact with it; it lifts us up to a higher plain of being, it raises our consciousness and gives us warmth.

Bassweight is a way of life that, once followed, can never be weakened. Once you discover it, and you can never discover it through our words or through google, the only way to discover it is to go to a bassweight night; see, feel and hear the bassweight yourself and I guarentee you will be more of an expert on what it means to you than anybody else in the world.

I promise you from the bottom of my heart that it will be the most positive experience you ever have.
Bass music lover since day dot.

^ couple of bongs and everyone's a poet!
just made me think how shit it is that in so many places i go now they ask people to take their hoods down. i dont do it to look threatening or like a dickhead but it just kinda gets me into my little bubble where there's just me and the tunes, properly feeling the bass. and then a bouncer comes over and pulls it down and it's ruined :(

I've heard Mala use the word 'meditation' in conjunction with bassweight. I'd say that bassweight is something that rather than bringing your senses outward, it sets up the situation for your senses to travel inward. Bassweight is something that is quite unique to dubstep. Some hip hop has some heavy bass but not the meditative qualities of the bass like dubstep does.

Bassweight is drowned out in the tearout scene for the most part. If you're going for a bassweight experience I recommend artists like Burial, DMZ, Cyrus, Tunnidge, Breakage and other such artists.
