Maschine 1.6
so now that maschine 1.6 has support for 3rd party vst's, do you reckon people will ditch their daws and produce solely with maschine?

Re: Maschine 1.6
i doubt it unless the machine is so amazing and you can sequence and everything just as good on it?
im sure people will do certain projects with it mostly, but i doubt they would ditch their daws.

Re: Maschine 1.6
Sure that you can produce full tracks in there, w or w/o vst support. I mean if full tracks can be made with the sp303, maschine is lightyears ahead of that.
I'm pretty seriously considering maschine, am going over what I would do with it, how I'd work with it. With the ability to sample and resample all within maschine is pretty serious business, now with vst support...
I think I'd still do mixdowns in a traditional daw. But then again, maybe I wouldn't have to? At a certain point, you have to just go for it, and count on decent resale if you don't jibe with it. I think its got good resale because I can't find one used...

Re: Maschine 1.6
maybe if machine had 49 keyboard, mouse, quadcore processor, dual 32 inch monitors, internet access and an easily upgradable setup then sure.

There's some things Maschine simply can't do. Its intention is to give you the most possible control so that it doesn't impede on your creativity.

Re: Maschine 1.6
Well, like what can't maschine do? Not referring to no mouse, as that is its greatest benefit, and not referring to no internet access, as that would be its second greatest benefit, but indeed it does require a computer to run, so is capable of working in an online reality.
So what can't maschine do that is actually related to musicianship or production as it relates to electronic music?

Re: Maschine 1.6
Yup maschine is amazing, ive been using it for a year inside abelton live. If it had a better way of sequencing the tune- linear style and with better capabilities for tracking vocals etc i would def ditch my DAW.
The keyboard thing is a non starter, you can plug any midi keyboard into it....so 49 keys, lets go bigger! Now, with any sample you can play it chromaticaly with you keyboard! it is upgradable, look at the constant updates. it just depends on the power of your computer. Maybe it will eventually evolve into a full blown daw, but i like its setup as it and it does it very well. It is an amazing piece of kit, and i think if anyone is looking for a bit of inspiration and to enjoy their music making , this will win you over!

Re: Maschine 1.6
I saw a demo of the maschine at Low End Theory once and damn. If I had the money I would buy it in an instant. It's like an mpc, 303, DAW, etc etc all in one. And that was like a year ago, I bet this one is even more mind blowing. Shit is PEEEERFECT for making some unquantized hip hop

Re: Maschine 1.6
That is what I'm saying, and not just purely old school. Being able to load synths and play them chromatically... can get on the next level tip.
Uh oh, bet you can't sidechain, though. I'm positively addicted to the sidechain. Do it in the mix, later.

Re: Maschine 1.6
Wait just a minute... Just realized you can load flstudio INSIDE of maschine, and put that inside of another flstudio. HAHAHAHAHAH
Can I get someone over here to clean up my ceiling, cause I just blew my mind.

Sosh, you make your sig track with the maschine?

Mostly with maschine and some hardware synths. sequenced in abelton with quite a bit of kp3 action! yeah no sidechain for now, although if you have reaktor you can do it that way, or use kore 2! there are some sidechain vsts. i think the next update will have sidechaining as everyone wants it.

That is indeed something major that maschine can't do...
Though I've been getting by with zerolatency plugs in fruity, but was hoping to finally be free of no-pdc hell for EVER.
Re: Maschine 1.6
Get lag in logic and ableton on certain plugs loaded into maschine that need a buffer such as the uad. Doesn't matter if the daw has plugin compensation.soosh21 wrote:just use it live or any daw that has delay compensation.
No biggie i prefer doing eqing and compression in the daw anyways.

Re: Maschine 1.6
i'm very tempted to buy maschine. just worried that my laptop won't b able to handle it on top of ableton and my usual set of plugs that i use in my tunes
Re: Maschine 1.6
yeah i havent really noticed much latency at all as i do most my compression/mastering in my daw. Once ive made stuff im happy with in maschine, i just drag and drop the audio into live. Save the maschine project in live and if i need to tweak later i can always load it up and make some changes. So far ive found it not very cpu intensive. If you are using vsts inside maschine, once you have the sounds you like just drag and drop the audio, then mute that pad, and it acts like a freeze track type thing freeing up cpu. im on a macbook pro 4g ram, and can have many vsts open before it chokes. In a usual project i have maybe 25-30 channels, and a lot of effects. Copes just fine. Try it out, theres good resale if you dont like it...not many second hand ones kicking about.
