DJ Hazard - Food Fight (Playaz) OUT NOW
Posted: Mon Apr 11, 2011 1:05 pm
Picking up where he left off on PLAYAZ011 ‘Busta Move’ / ‘Death March’, DJ Hazard continues to bring the freshest sounding drum & bass around. Having locked himself away and developed a whole new dimension to his sound, Hazard brings influences from the D&B sound of the late ’90s with up-to-date production and rhythmic patterns.
‘Food Fight’ is an unstoppable wave of bass pressure that washes over clean, crisp drums and layer upon layer of tension-building atmospherics. Grinding, winding bass and heavily gated breakbeats complete the picture, combining to make something that sounds totally new but with a nostalgic feel.
On the flip ‘Proteus’ comes bounding out of Hazard’s studio like an ill tempered dog who smells an intruder. Reminiscent of Loxy & Ink or even Konflict, once again Hazard manages to create something that’s the best of drum & bass both new and old. Anxious pads pave the way for a spoken word sample and doom-laden bass notes.
