Unfriend them if it bothers you. I had something similar the other week where someone posted a Mt Eden tune on my Facebook along the lines of "OMG BEST DUBSTEPZ EVR!". I screenshotted, made a thread, posted the image, had a rant for a few pages, then realised I was being a complete bellend about things, so just unfriended them and haven't had the issue since.

i cringe at some of the deep vs bro arguments that pop up on facebook. i mean, im on the 'deep' (urgh stupid term) side but why waste the energy, you know

What do you think of someone if they say they are a "deep" person? You think they are a stupid pretentious self righteous dick. I think saying the same about your music tastes comes off in a very similar fashion. You should use actual musical terms to describe your interests to people, like ..."minimal, based on percussive elements".
Obviously if you are just chattin on with some other proper step fans then they will probably know what you mean. Most people will just take it the wrong way though.
Yeah but that's at least describing it with some genuinely applicable adjectives.stappard wrote:hugh wrote:I would just like to point out that referring to your own tastes as "Deep" makes you sound like a pretentious twat. Seriously.

while i obviously agree (hence my saying it was a stupid term in my earlier post) describing music that you enjoy as "minimal, based on percussive elements" sounds pretty pretentious too![]()
i find examples work better than descriptions. writing about music is like dancing about architecture, and all that.

"minimal, based on percussive elements".
capo ultra wrote:No offense Hugh lol but if someone told me that they listen to minimal percussive based elements I would automatically assume that they are the biggest prick ever
no its nothugh wrote:why is that pretentious? It actually describes a lot of the scene. Throw the word "Pads" in there and you practically have every other 2 step tune coming out at the moment.
The only reason it may seem pretentious is because you know pretentious people who have inaccurately used it to describe their music interests. Saying it is "deep" then expecting people to know what that is even supposed to mean is far more pretentious.
