Trotting Bassline ?? Anyone...
Anyone know how to make your basslines trot ?? I've been trying to mess with this and figure it out for some time now... I will try the Different Speed Ratios and put singles bars then quickly put in the faster one but doesn't come out right, etc attempts.. Mark Instinct has that down pretty well too... Any one know how to do that ?

Try recording your bass with a few different lfo speeds, then bounce them and cut them up. It sounds like the wobbles aren't coming straight from the lfo, but from the bass sound being re-triggered for each respective wobble. I think. :s

Is it an engine idling? It could totally be an engine idling.lyons238 wrote:im also wondering how to get a wobble like this. theres another cool wobble sound that cookie monsta does that sounds like an engine idling, ill have to find which song and report back. i did it once not even trying too but i lost that song file :/

no it doesnt actually sound like an engine but more the way it wobbles sounds kind of like a engine idling. its hard to explain but i believe it can be achieved by using a downward or upward slope waveform and not sure bout the filter settings. i should try to make it again though. when i made the similar sound i believe it was just by experimenting with different wave forms and filters but i honestly have no clue which ones anymore haha.Kodachrome wrote:Is it an engine idling? Here's Mark Instincts... it doesn't sound like it's chopped up to me .. What funny is that as the song progresses so is the "Trotting" of the bassline which enables the song to keep altering but using the same bassline and not going Bassline crazy with 5-6 different sounds.... Its a good style... i tried in one of my songs and it Flowed greatttt ! but it's just not what i want..
Couple other producers do it as well.. but can't quite seem to get it..

i know i said i was wondering the same thing. but then it reminded me of another sound (engine idle) which sounds similar but not so trotty. but seriously try a down or upward slope waveform and automate the lfo however fits your song, you can get a similar sound. obv not the same. like i said i too am wondering how exactly they do this.PR1NCE wrote:Im talking about Trotting not engine idling .........

Well no one's gonna tell you exactly how to do it. have you tried alternating between normal and slightly syncopated lfo speeds?

HOW DO YOU KNOW THE SYNCOPATED LFO SPEEDS HAVENT BEEN SLIGHTLY ALTERING HIM????????hudson wrote:Well no one's gonna tell you exactly how to do it. have you tried alternating between normal and slightly syncopated lfo speeds?
Re: Trotting Bassline ?? Anyone...
i actually just started messing around with the performer at bit in the LFO... and having the two triangles in one square kind of helps out.. quite there... but .

Re: Trotting Bassline ?? Anyone...
well i mean like the modulation waveform. like in malstrom ill have a square and a triangle but set the modulation wave form to the down or up slope. it gives it a wobble like the bass is sort of turning on and turning off. shit im baked and cant explain things right now..PR1NCE wrote:i actually just started messing around with the performer at bit in the LFO... and having the two triangles in one square kind of helps out.. quite there... but .
but yeah i know it still isn't what your looking for..
i wish i knew too..

hey dude i asked this a long time ago theirs 3 ways for me you can get this
1) make your rate 2/ whatever and automate the rate.
2) take a bunch of your bounced sounds and just chop them up so say if you have a 2/4 and a 2/16 chop them up and play with them almost calling and answering each other back
3) reverse some of your basslines to give it a weird effect that feels like its coming back to go faster or slower
i can go deeper but maybe this could help
