Mpk mini vs 25

Just wanna start off by saying hi to everyone, I've been lurking these forums for a while but never actually posted until now.

So i'm looking to get a Midi for production purposes mainly, mostly dubstep and such. The MPK Mini is very appealing both feature wise and price wise, i'm currently a full time student with a part time job so any money spent on a hobby can be rough, but I am very very fond of producing in particular so i don't mind spend the extra 200 bucks for the MPK 25 if it's actually 200 bucks superior to the Mini. I currently us FL as well, and I know Akai definitely go well with Ableton, but does it react any different to FL? I apologize if that's a "noob" question, I don't know much about midi's at all. Thanks in advance.

go with the mpk25 for sure dude. if you buy the mini you will soon realize its junk and will get the mpk25. i know someone with the mini and its sort of cheaply built and the keys feel like shit and its just too small.

i have the mpk25 and i love it. although you do need to mod the pads to make them very responsive, but the mod is really quick and easy.

the mpk25 will work fine with FL and any other daw really.

but yeah i love my mpk25. its solid as hell and everything works great. the knobs feel great and the mpc features for the pads are sickkk!! (note repeat, mpc swing, velocity/12 level mode, etc)

How does one mod the pads? Is it part of the software that comes with it?

mod the pads by placing about 4 strips of electrical tape under each pad (this is if you want more sensitivity. you can adjust the sensitivity in the program it comes with, but i wanted more)

basically the mpk and mpd's and some mpcs have space between the rubber pads and sensors. if that space is filled up, the pads become much more responsive.

or you can buy fat pads from mpcstuff.com which add a lot of sensitivity and feel nicer. but they're also 40 bucks...

there is tutorials all over youtube. its very easy to do. if you can unscrew a couple of screws, cut and place tape you will be all set for the mod.

Thanks a ton, I originally expected to spend 300 on one but I recently found it for 250, so i'll spend the saved money on some fat pads.

I wish I spent my money on a full sized keyboard for the same price.

Unless you have the hands of a midget....
