Hey kids! i'm working on a new joint, but I can't for the life of me come up with a bassline that works for it!!!

Please put on your engineer caps and see what you can pull together!
Full credit will certianly be given if someone gets a cool idea.

the bpm is 135. Sorry for the crappy quality sample, but post your results up here in a similar quality. This could be fun! I think it'll be neat to see everyone's spin.

fun idea, but i think the reason u cant find a bassline that will work with it is cus it doesnt need one...it already has an 808 kick or somethin similar that gives it sub...

very nice tune btw tho :D

But you're right - the deep kick imparts alot of subbass so I had to use sidechaining. It still sounds a bit muddy, and the bass really just sucks ass, but the idea is there - I just need to flesh out the midi work.
I think this could be a real ballin' tune!

Thanks for that cure - you set me on the right direction with the word minimal. I did want to add a bassline, and I think I've come up with a good idea. It's just a straight solid tone and I used sidechain compression to press the bass, and then the release on the compressor to make the bass pump with the music, adding a nice healthy physical syncopation. I was trying to add some harmonics, but it muddies up the tune, so it's pretty much just subbass. Don't even try to listen on your laptop speakers :-P

Let me know - I think it works. Any feedback appreciated - good or bad.

Thanks for the reflections kids. You've all been a boon pointing out things that I've not noticed. I can't wait to hear this one in a club.
