If someone wants to sound like datsik, here you go.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/aggy58 :W:
Experiment with that patch. Put a really short delay on it or something.
Hope it helps someone, but dunno if that sound is interesting to peepz anymore. :D
Oh, it's for massive btw. ;-)

What would be the point in being a producer who sounds like someone else?

this

although i dont see a problem with starting from scratch and trying to sound like another producer just for practice. but simply taking a patch that sounds like someone else is stupid...

maybe this will shut some kids asking for datsik sounds up though....no...no it wont..

why does that bother you?
It is flattering
You can Learn
More Variety to an idea or style

The list can go on and on,
and the only negatives to the list I can think of have to do with money or marketing which should not even be a case or situation since I would really hope no one here is making music based on those 2 factors (especially this type of music)

PRIORITIES!

wouldnt the biggest negative be a huge lack of creativity and diversity in music if everyone copied other artists??? money or marketing?? where is your head lol

Exactly my point, that is you mentioning a money/marketing issue,
However more music will always lead to more good music
please do not try to sit here and explain that there will be a lack of creativity if more people are creating

and my head is in place above my neck, weird you would ask where it is, I would be dead if it was elsewhere

more people would be creating by copying other peoples sound?? :corntard:

no, more people would be copying if they copied other peoples sound, which means less creativity and diversity..

and idk by the way your talking, my guess would be that your head is lodged deep in your arsehole. are you sure that puppy is properly mounted in your shoulders?

Even if you were an artist who took elements from other artists without adding anything new and mixed them together in ways that previously did not exist that would still well be worth it, and yes more people even copying other stuff is still more people creating, there is no argument there, those people are actively seeking what inspires them and interpreting it and maybe in the future creating new things off it.

Why are you so afraid of people copying other peoples stuff, without that process nothing original would exist in the world and no one would have an ability to perceive or invent.

Are you saying only a handful of people should be making music in the world? Are you saying it should not be open to anyone... How can we hear and experience new things without new people trying to progress old sounds!?

im not saying that at all :a: . i said that i think imitating someone else is sound is great for producers that are still learning...

but in general its a better idea to create your own style from scratch and see what you end up with :W:

Well that is not what it seemed like you were originally saying but that aside I still disagree with this completely.

Why is it bad for producers to imitate something they like no matter the skillset?
This genre cannot exist without that happening, I hope you realize that.

Also creating your own style is a subjective statement, that could mean anything especially in the world we live in where making music can be done in SO MANY ways.

Think about early Hip Hop sampling where nothing new was added, now compare that to 2562's new album. According to you what 2562 did is unoriginal and not creative, especially because he is a veteran.

I think you need to re-evaluate what music means to you and more importantly others before you start bashing people who seek the greatest thing in life, knowledge and understanding a passion!

Imagine how much more productive it would be if we talked about how he made the sound instead of "no creativity blah blah blah"

What version massive is it for?

But taking the patch and making it your own = progress.
And you can break the patch down, and try to see what affects the sound, and how it affects it. Can be very helpful :W:
