Could do with the How Do You Make This Sound Thread being made sticky, and a clearing up of the Sample Pack threads.
Also, the top announcement titled "Skrillex, Borgore, heavily processed bass : explained!" - could this title be amended to include the word MASSIVE so that it's the first thing that many people see when they check the board? Alternatively, a new announcement entitled "NI MASSIVE BASSLINE SYNTH - FAQ & COMPLETE GUIDE" be created, to include a repository of all Massive tutorials/links/threads/screenshots/patches etc etc. I'd have no problem collating a list should this idea be pursued, I've got a working list that I dish out half the time anyway.
Could also do with a similarly titled announcement thread re; £RESAMPLING - FAQ & COMPLETE GUIDE". Again, I've got a list of Resampling threads etc that I've been cutting and pasting, but if we had an announcement thread at the very top clearly labelled, it would cut down on a lot of the repeat threads.
I'm aware that a lot of this is covered in the Production Bible etc, but in all fairness the thread title Production Bible isn't all that clear, and I'm afraid to say that (and this is largely drawing on my Uni research into Human Computer Interaction within online communities, so bear with me), unless things are clearly labelled new users to a site won't necessarily think to check in places that seem obvious to people who have been here longer. Just because we (the established user base) know that the Production Bible has the links to the 'standard' questions, doesn't mean a new user will think to look there.
Me n legend4ry have had chats about the merits of different titles for the 'Filth Wobbles' thread, and the concept I believe is to take the most frequently requested filth bass names of the month or whatever and put them in the title to immediately catch the attention of anyone showing up asking about it... if you remember, a while back that was the datsik excision sound thread, but they arent split-frequency-bass-of-the-week now, so its skrillex this week, next week, who knows. But I think its a sensible system that adapts the keyword to the times at hand.
I think it wouldnt hurt the mods to show less tolerance for repeated topics. As a rule of thumb if there is a sitcky for it (Skrillex bass say), and there is more then 1 post already on the first page, threads could be locked or appenged. Yeah, youll get some angry people wondering why. Oh well.
Agree completely about the stickies, clear up the sample packs, how do I make this sound thread needs stickied. all the majoy synths like massive and stuff have dedicated threads that get ignored, and they are part of the sticky system though, easily found in the 'START HERE' thread. But the caps locked words start here dont catch the eye enough.
