As im on this forum since 2005, and have been listening to dubstep since the beginning, i have noticed dubstep changed drastically towards a mainstream genre played in almost every club all over the world.
In my opinion dubstep has lost its charme, as it developed towards a more pop-orientated sound containing sharp synths and pop-bootlegs.
It has lost its real dub vibe, its deepness and raw appearance. Now it is more club orientated for a bigger crowd, and i have the feeling it doesnt come from the heart anymore.
Im very curious how you people think about this matter. From the old dubstephead perspective and recent followers.
Think about people saying hiphop is dead, i feel the same about dubstep...

Really glad you bought this up, not like there is hundreds of threads already on this issue.
This argument will go nowhere. Honestly, it's just easier to stick to the music you like listening to, and leave it at that.

Despite being there from the start, you clearly haven't looked very hard.
End of story, dubstep is a state of flux, great stuff coming from nearly all directions.
Don't take the bait, lock this.

not a day goes by i dont see this type of thread on this forum saying the same thing, worded differently. said it once and ill say it again, by everyone continously saying that the deep dubstep is dying is only helping it too

If you can only represent current dubstep by Doctor P, then you're obviously not spending very much time looking for dubstep. Stop bitching and start digging.

Stop bitching and start digging.
Must confess im not into dubstep as i used to. As a matter of fact im an underground house/techno dj based in amsterdam where this discussion is really an issue.
It came to my mind when i was at Lowlands festival where dubstep is a great part of. Each time dubstep was played i noticed the samen 'new skool' sound, which bothered me at that moment. No that i didnt enjoy it, it was good to hear dubstep again as i, most of the time, go to a house/techno party, but old dubstep memories came up again and therefore wanted to enjoy the old flavoured dubstep. Since then i payed attention what kind of dubstep was frequently played in clubs here in amsterdam, and each time bumped into the new skool sound.
Anyway good to hear that there is still a lot of fresh old dubstep being released. This will motivate me to start digging again as i havent been on this forum for ages.
Thanks for showing me the light!

Although I do prefer the newer dubstep stuff I know how you feel. I feel the same way when some of my favorite bands get popular when I use to listen to them when they first started out. It's somewhat annoying.

That's the most selfish attitude I've ever seen.
