Oi oi I wanna take up building my own rig, basically would be something small for personal purpose like 2 Super Scoopers (18") and perhaps 2 horns as well, to fully enjoy true sub-bass power at home Sooooo, I got the plans, I'm pretty agile with my hands or for anything technical but before I start this, I'd like to have your advice on what to do/ What not to do, what drivers I should put in it, so if anyone who has made his own rig has any tips or w/e, will be greatly appreciated !!

I read this a bit ago about a dude who built his own rig (albeit a lot bigger than you're on about). Could be useful to you, links to a forum pretty much about building rigs and stuff.

How much does it cost on average to build your own rig? I can imagine it being fairly pricey.

Well it depends on the speakers you want to put in, the kind of wood you'll be using... For reasonably good drivers count something like 300 quids a pair. I've got no clue about how much wood costs but it shouldn't be that much should it ?

Wouldn't recommend building it yourself unless you're a professional carpenter.

I don't know how serious your build is, but even flatpack bins need to be incredibly precise.

I think building your own system is only a good plan when you're thinking about making LOTS of speakers and want to save a couple of dollars.
If it's just for sound at home I think you'll be better of buying one. Probably same price but better quality.

Your neighbours probably hate you.

I remember having a house party where my mates brought their party rig round then no-one turned up... it was quite fun having 2x18" and two tops in a room 3x2 metres big! Just put on jungle and psytrance until 1am then made off with a huge painting we found in the street. Fun times
