Dubstep + Turntablism?

Post by __________ » Sun May 06, 2007 6:09 pm

I did a search on the forum and I can't find anything about people beatjuggling dubstep or scratching over it.
Anyone know of a good example of dubstep and turntablism?

Someone must have given it a go, surely?

I imagine dudes in real life would be more like "Whoaaa" than "Woh"

Just like, my opinion, man.

Didn't Yunx do some beat juggling a while back? Heard about that

There's alot of posts in that other thread from people saying that scratching has no place in dubstep. Scratching didn't have a place in hip hop til someone tried it either. I don't get these people, dubstep is a diverse genre - give turndubtablismstep a chance innit.

What I'm looking for is some beatjuggling & dubstep beats, someone must have done some sick shit! I bet someone that reads this is good at juggling, show us how its done pretty please

I hear Youngsta cut midnight request line twice and did some crazy stuff with them at FWD way back when. He wasn't actually beat juggling, he just played them a few bars out of sync and cut back and forth between them. Think he did something similar at one of the Leeds DMZs, but the details escape me as I was a bit of a state.

You couldn't really do proper beat juggling with dubs though, you'd batter them to hell.

It could sound sick, but you'd have to be ninja precise.

Even though they don't spin strictly dubstep, Rossi B and Luca are full of tricks and their sets are pure fucking energy.

Scratch Perverts anyone?
They've got some in the two mix albums they've released (FabricLive and Watch The Ride). I've also saw them twice and they played some.
Just dub it.

i remember doing a dubstep set and one of the other djs of that night was big on scratching and asked if you could borrow the decks for a couple of cuts... i think he did them over MRK1's Grit, which is one of the most "hiphop"-like dubstep tracks.... but this guy was really good, and the track was perfect for it

and i hear some kind of scratching in vex'ds remix of Sileni's Twitchy Droid Leg in that mangled drum sample at the beginning.

Have a listen to the Urban Graffiti intro which I did for the lads. The dubstep track which comes in is all scratched... the kick, snare, bass, lfo and of course the few phrases in there.

Do you like our NozL stuff if you're into scratching? All scratched tracks. www.nozl.co.uk
