Lollapalooza Remix Comp
Hey guys and gals just thought that I would let you know that the Lolla remix comp is back on this year. I was lucky enough to be the winner last year and I must say it was a pretty freaking good experience.
Here are the details.
Overview
The Lolla Remix Throwdown isn’t just about your skills in the studio – because being an artist is way more than that, right? It’s also about rocking self-promotion, live performance and everything else that makes you the complete package. Start off by submitting your best original production in the open round. The contest will narrow down to the semi-finals and then to the finals where the top four will compete at a live event in Chicago!
The Open Round - Submit An Original Track
May 10th-May 22nd
From May 10th to May 22nd, artists will enter the contest by submitting their best original song or remix and building their artist profile page. Once posted, artists will heavily encourage fans to vote via the website, MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and any other platforms available to them. Individuals can vote for each artist once per day. On May 22nd at midnight CST, the open round will close and 50 semi-finalists will be selected, comprised of the 40 with the highest voter scores and 10 hand-picked by the judges (regardless of vote score).
The Semifinals - Remix A Lollapalooza Artist
June 6th-July 1st
The votes are reset and the top 50 will have from June 6th to June 20th to create a new remix using tracks provided by the following 2011 Lollapalooza artists:
Glitch Mob
Midnight Conspiracy
Lady D
From June 20th to July 1st artists will once again promote their new remix and collect as many votes as possible. On July 1st at midnight CST, the top four with the highest rating (combination of fan votes and judges’ scoring) will advance to the live finals on July 30th in Chicago.
The Final Round - Live Performance Battle
July 30th
On Saturday, July 30th at Double Door in Chicago, the top four will compete via head-to-head DJ sets in front of a live audience. A grand prize winner will be chosen by an industry judging panel.
Talk It Up
Follow the Lolla Remix Throwdown on Twitter to get on-the-fly updates on the contest. We’ll be tweeting updates with the hashtag #lollaremix to keep people talking. Artists, get involved! Reply to the tweets, add the hashtag to your own tweets and encourage retweets to spread the word about the contest and drive people to your submission. We’ll also be sending out updates on our Facebook fan page, so make sure you’re following us there as well – who knows, you might get some new fans!
If you or your friends create multiple accounts (or try to use bots to vote for you), it’s cheating, and we will disqualify those votes. So please, don’t waste your time or ours cheating. See Official Rules here.

Re: Lollapalooza Remix Comp
Remember the votes help but if you have solid tracks you can get in that way to. I think I had close to the smallest amount of votes each round but got voted in due to the judges vote.
