Any Tips For House Production?

I've just started creating House on Ableton Live and Fl Studio. Does anyone have any tips on adding features/effects to House music. I'm aiming more for the Electro House sound feel in my music. No worries with samples though my Hard Drive is up to its eyeballs with them.
Also does anyone know any good or recommended plug ins for creating some nice electro house synths and sounds?

i prefer NI Massive for every electronic music genre. pretty big!
Novation V-Station is good for progressive house stuff

Yeah I've got massive just really need to learn how to use it to create the sound i'm after that's my main confusion at this time, that and sidechaining.
Have to try out Novation V-Station. I'm sure Ive heard that before....
