The monthly spectacular that is The Big Chill Presents welcomes back our favorite on-demand radio platform Mixcloud in May who team up with Belgium’s leading online station Laid Back Radio (aka LDBK). The event will be celebrating the release of LDBK's All School Flavor Vol 1 Compilation, which is being funded by fans of the station.
Kick-starting at 4pm, this immense 12-hour party starts on Big Chill House’s excellent roof terrace where Laid Back and Mixcloud residents will DJ’ing the perfect summer tunes over London town. A BBQ and cocktail bar will keep the crowd fed and watered until 10pm when things move inside to the newly refurbished venue. Upstairs is an amazing games room (you have to see it to believe it), whilst downstairs the headliner will play through the venues new and improved tailor made sound-system which was recently christened by Scratch at their 15th year celebrations.
Belgium-based Lefto (Brownswood) headlines the event. Having recently had his radio show named Best Radio Show on Gilles Peterson's World Wide Awards, this man has to be seen to be believed. Delivering a variety of eclectic styles, from Hip Hop to Dubstep, Lefto's sets are the perfect balance between musical discovery and party vibes.
Joining him will be multi-instrumentalist, DJ & producer Simbad, part of Giles Peterson’s Worldwide Family, who is all about creating great music. His incredibly wide range as a producer spans from big band jazz to heavy Jamaican dancehall reggae via bouncy hip-hop to sick broken-beat & techno. His sets are like an exotic journey, he takes you trough different landscapes and when you finally arrive at destination, not only you’ll be quite satisfied, but you might also have a brighter picture of where contemporary club music is going.
DJ Kutmah is a veteran of the L.A. beats scene and a key figure in the dublab / low end theory / brainfeeder creative community. His mixes take in everything from rare Egyptian funk to even the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme song and of course fresh exclusives from his friends back in Los Angeles. He's been a revelation since his arrival in London. Having toured with Bonobo, Flying Lotus, Gonjasufi, The Gaslamp Killer and Prefuse 73 he has not only held his own but positively shined at each turn with his brooding, bass-laden eclectic sets.
Eric Lau is a London-based producer, known for his work with an array of international artists such as Lupe Fiasco, Dudley Perkins, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Guilty Simpson, and many more. Lau’s debut album ‘New Territories’, released through Ubiquity Records (LA) to great critical acclaim was nominated as one of Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Top Albums of the Year 2008, and established Eric as a key name at the forefront of progressive British production talent. On the night, he'll bringing is own mix of Hip Hop, Funk, Soul and Boogie to the dance floor.
German based DJ Paul Pre is probably one of the most prolific mixtape DJ's out there (and on Mixcloud). Globally known for his monthly mixes with exciting beats roaming from the underground, he is currently taking over dance floors all over the world. We just couldn't wait till Outlook Festival to see him in action...
LDBK's priority is to connect existing communities around the world and activate them to engage in different projects. Most of the content on the site is exclusive and generated through this unique and ever-growing international network of creative minds (designers, photographers, writers, artists, musicians, DJ’s, software developers, filmmakers and so forth). Music wise, the station focuses on everything from Soul, Funk, Jazz, Psych Rock, Disco and Latin music to Hip Hop, from the past 40 years.
