Buy a brand new dubstep album for a quid!

Post by davwuh » Thu May 19, 2011 6:33 pm

I decided to put my album down to £1! Get it before I decide i've gone crazy :6:

or at least listen to it and see what you think! all comments welcome :h:

get it @ http://davwuh.bandcamp.com

more info:

This is the first time I've ever sold music online.. please listen and buy it if you like it! It's available to buy, or just stream at http://davwuh.bandcamp.com

If you decide to check it out, please listen to quite a few of the tunes as my style varies from track to track.. There is a lot of deep stuff and a lot of sick stuff on here and no 2 songs are really that alike. But I try to make my albums flow even though the style varies, hopefully that comes across!

Here's a little write-up I did for it..
My new album 'Samurai' is borne out of my love for Japanese culture. I'm highly interested in the Edo period as well as modern day Japan, with samurai being a particular part of Japanese history I'm fascinated with. I've read books like Bushido and read the history of feudal Japan, whilst currently reading the novel Shogun which is set in this period. I'm obsessed with Japanese cinema, especially the masterworks of Kurosawa and Kobayashi.

All of the music on this album is inspired by Japanese sounds, from music to films, traditional and new. Some of my biggest inspiration when writing music comes from my favourite composers such as the Japanese film and video game score writers - Nobuo Uematsu, Fumio Hayasaka, Masaru Sato etc.. They all share the same trait of producing timeless melodies with a distinct Japanese sound. Music like the score to Akira Kurosawa's films and Nobuo Uematsu's Final Fantasy soundtracks inspire me to make music just as much as the latest dubstep tracks.

Don't be mistaken, this isn't just some Japanese traditional music-fest. Indeed, it is very thematic, but the sick drops are still there, the deep basslines and everything else I love about dubstep. I believe this is some of the best produced music I've ever made and I'm highly proud of it, which is why I'm selling it rather than giving it away for free. This is the first album I have ever sold - I've previously given away 3 albums for no cost.. but I'm passionate about this particular album and I feel like it's good enough to sell. I've been producing music for over 10 years now, and the first moment I heard dubstep in 2005 I fell in love with it. Like most people who got into it when it was first coming to prominence, my first track was Skream's 'Midnight Request Line,' which I think is still one of the best tracks going. The evolution of dubstep has been pretty crazy over the last few years, but I've incorporated many styles into this album, old and new, with a lot of what I think are original and innovative sounds & an overall strong Japanese influence.

some variation in style here, not really sticking to any specific formula, something i've came to expect from your offerings of late, glad i caught on this, you seem to be putting out a lot of stuff at the moment? suppose it's time i opened my wallet and gave a little back for all the hours of listening you've provided me with - will be throwing a quid your direction for this - keep up the good work!
