I wanna start messing around with another synth. I have gotten pretty familiar with Massive and i wouldnt mind trying something that is similar or can produce similar sounds. I know there is a list of vst's in the bible but im looking for personal suggestions. I have messed around with z3ta+ and sytrus a bit but i dont really like their interface. massive seems to making everything alot simpler to first understand and further implement if you get what i mean? z3ta's interface made my mind shit penis' so definitely trying to steer clear of anything like z3ta. Thanks ;-)

As stated in other thread - learn what you've got in Fruity Loops. Believe me, you need to work with them if you think they're crap.

You said nothing about Fruity Loop's synths.

What about 3xOSC? The fact that you dislike Sytrus' interface means you should probably use it even more :P

I think it could b the fact that it seems daunting coming from massive which im familiar with, maybe thats why it seems simple... i just can seem to produce something that sounds as good on sytrus. and im really not sure about the grid like knob layout. Sytrus does have a fuckload of oscillators tho.. Guy at my work just suggested firebird before. Anyone used this?

You might be right, but if that's the case you're going to have problems with most synths - as they're always hard at first, as you learn where things are, how parameters can be modulated.etc.

also - you could always try a few free synths. There's some amazing ones out there, like Atlantis, or the Tal range.

I know you've glanced over it, but seriously, give 3xOsc a shot. It's an essential synth in pretty much every FL Studio user's set up.

Heard of a guy called Tek9? He frequents these boards under another name, which I forget (ninthy I think?). Anyways, all his basses are made in 3xOSC, and imo - some of the best basses I've ever heard. It's just proof that you do what you can with what you got - and the more time you spend with a synth, the better you'll be with it.

PS - an awesome way to learn synths is to only restrict yourself to that instrument for a whole tune. No other synths.

When I tell people to use Albino, they totally blow it off like it's some fucking shitty FL Vst. Then I'm all like "Rusko makes all of his wobbles and bass sounds with it". Then they are all like :o

tbh I can't stand albino - the way it does some things bends my mind, as it seems so illogical. That said, I love the cream filter.

Just remember - it's not the synth, it's the artist. Tek9 really likes working with notch filters.etc. Looks like he's changed his name: http://soundcloud.com/tek9 (Teknian)

But yeah, that bassline has notch all through it :)
