Has anyone here studied at SAE or Point Blank or any other institutes?

I went to SAE in Hollywood CA.

No, I don't have a ridiculous amount of money to blow.

i was thinking of going to dubspot in new york but it costs thousands. i'd be interested to hear from anyone who's been on a real good course they recommend.

how was it? did you get a job in the music industry? they say 69% of graduates do, i went on a tour there last month, but decided if i were ever to go there i have to save up cause they dont have financial aid yet.

I have a funny feeling I'm not going to get into college this year so I'm willing to work to pay for private schoolings.

i think point blank is online only, which is what put me off as i'd rather learn with someone there to talk to. theres tons of free videos on the web, why pay to have more videos?

i got a conditional offer from SAE in Glasgow but the price isnt worth it for a two year course, it looks awesome though, the gear they have is top notch

Much is it for audio course man?

im not quite sure but i know the SAE ones are quite dear. the only locations are mostly in big cities like london and new york

No worries, must consider it as an option for now.

I did a local course for a year, dropped out, was pretty dull and I found I could learn way more way faster at home on my own than I could in a class that moved at a snails pace. Just my experience though, I'm sure lots of people have had better experiences than I have, and to be honest I'm not that suited to a classroom learning environment, better on my own, so that fed into it quite a bit. Good luck if you're considering doing it, I know people who have done it and gone the whole way and had a really great time and learned a lot big ups for learning

Just saw this thread. I'm borderline shocked that this discussion has been so pleasant so far. No-one has been outraged at someone interested in going to a college to learn yet, which is unusual, but very nice. Just came on to answer a few of those points anyway.

- Virtualmark: Our courses aren't only Online, you can come down to London and study at our college in Hoxton as well. We have some top facilities and the studios are open and free to all our students to make the most of, and get 1-2-1 help from the tutors. If you're still looking into doing some sort of music course, then come down and take a look around some time if you can.

- Jaimelee: My advice is definately man-up and get on down to London! I've have only quite recently moved down here myself after finishing my degree in music and there is so much more opportunity to get involved with music and gain experience in things that will look good to employers here, it's ridiculous. And on a seperate, but related note, After doing production stuff at uni, I've done a few lessons (Logic) from Point Blank's online school and they are well better than what I was taught at uni level, practically speaking. I would reccomend arranging to come down for a tour of the college and a chat to one of the advisors here to get more of a solid idea of what you want out of studying music and where you want to go. If you cant make it down then drop them an email or give them a call using the contact info below:

I'll have a look but as it is, just recently settled up in Glasgow and got some work by chance.
Not sure I can give that up as fast the now. I might go for some online lessons, will drop an enquiry to be sure!

Haha, that looked great until I saw the price. I don't suppose you have separate student courses?

Or does anyone know courses that go that indepth, but are cheaper or free?
