The Weekend Production Thread™

Following on the office steppers thread, use this thread as a weekend general production chat thread.

I spent the day yesterday alternating between napping, watching X-Men films and running the sample pack files through some of my effects processing templates and bouncing out the results. Got a really weird sound by pitching down one of the samples (not saying which one :6: ), reversing it, running it through a Comp/Delay/Reverb and then grabbing the output with Edison. Now just got to find a way to work it into a project

More of the same today, though it's 8am and I've got a short (4km) run to do first. Joy

No one else?

Spent the time since I got back making some sort of weird 170bpm track - not entirely sure how it's going to turn out, but it's using an offbeat bassline structure akin to something you'd find in hardstyle, but with broken beat drum programming.

I got the nova3 alpha vst installed on Friday night.
Wired it up to some Azian Dreamz strings and Omnisphere.
Awesome stuff.
Loving it.

Oh, Also figured out my headphones are making life diffucult for me.
Time for a change.

Just woke up, spent countless hours attempting to do a remix yesterday.
Gave up and went to the pub instead. :6:
Might have a doddle around for some sample packs and plugins today. Any recommendations?

I spent a bit of time yesterday messing around with TAL Reverb following the Reverb discussion thread we had. Haven't really deviated much from stock FL plugins for some time now, so was nice to have a change of sound on things. Put it on a few drum busses, reversed a few hits, bounced, etc etc.

Sample pack wise, depends if you're after free or paid?

Friday I actually started a new track which I just put up on my soundcloud. It was really just something I started cause I was extremely bored, and you could probably hear the boredom in it. I spent my friday morning on that, and then again saturday morning after I got off work. Other than that I spent my weekend working like usual. It's really a rather boring existence when it comes to my weekends now a days. I remember not too long ago I would have spent my weekend nights drunk, and my mornings recovering from hangovers......wtf happened.

Doesn't sound horrible, just needs tightening up on the drums. :)
And also on that secondary synth, a bit flat I think..

finally started producing again without ending up quitting after 30 minutes and being pissed off for the rest of the day (the mere thought lets my adrenaline levels rise as i'm writing this...)
yesterday i made progress towards a current value-ish snare, and as i was practicing compression i accidentally ended up figuring out how to make schranz/hardtechno (which is the most horrible music i've ever heard in a club but who cares).
basically you could make a whole schranz track minus the hihats with one channel, it's ridiculous really...

How do you guys feel about recreating someone elses songs to learn the software you're using? Just when you're starting out of course. I'm still pretty new to a lot of the parts of production.
That's what I spent my weekend doing. :P

Sounds likea decent idea, I'm more just creating really random noises and saving them for later.
Have to keep the sample library tasty! :)

Yea, I'm pretty sure that dude just came over to my house and recorded the sound my dryer makes when I put my boots in it.
