Do you use them all?
Or only one?

I was cutting the apache break today & I wasn't statisfied how the complex mode changed the break (when I changed the bpm), so I tried out other warp modes & now I was wondering is there any approach on using warp modes? (beat related stuff, more instrumental things, glitchy shit,...)

Cheers

Yes, I use most of them.

For a break, I would assign Beats mode. It will catch the transients better. For a full song, Complex and for a pad or bass or something, I would use Tones.

EZ

if you have ableton live 8 use complex pro mode on vocals. gets rid of the chipmunk effect when pitching vocal samples - this is a godsend when your trying to fit an acapella to your track which is in a different key. as mks said beats is best for drums, tones for bass, pads etc. however try different warp modes for melodic samples and transpose them, you can create some interesting effects :D

Beats is good for beats. Texture is good for pads. Complex for vocals and warping songs. Repitch if you're going for a vinyl effect. You can get some interesting effects using beats and texture on bass.

^^ this pretty much, I would use complex and complex pro for vocals. Beats for drums (usually on the double arrow forward setting with the value taken down) so that you get some really nice phat transients. You can get some awesome effect from using texture (or tones to a lesser extent) by fucking around with the grain size (essentially it gives you a really exaggerated delay effect so a low value gives you a really high metallic sound and a low value gives you a slower delay (perfect for glitch)).
Basically fuck around with stretching samples and using them and you can get some awesome effects (remember that you can automate parameters like grain size on the clip automation drop down menu).
Have fun and experiment!!
