questions for serato users

I'm considering buying Serato and I have a few questions:
Is it posible to play regular vinyl when the serato is connected to the turntables (bypass the software)?
Is it compatible with all types of mixers and turntables?
Do I need a special cartridge for that?
Every advice welcome!

yes. (you'll need to buy a power supply if you want to leave the box connected, but not attached to a computer)

same as .. more questions..

Does it use much computer welly running it?

Does it affect using other external soundcards you have running at same time? ( ie. can you record mixer output into your soundcard whilst running serato)

Does the software work ok with other sequencers etc running?

thanks in advance

more answers:

for what it is, serato runs really, really light. if you've got a powerful laptop (new mac or similar), you can have any # of apps open with it. whether or not you should is your call.

haven't had any interference w/ my audio interface (metric halo) while running serato.

works fine for me with logic, peak, or ableton running in the background. very easy to record DJ sets from mixer into audio card, etc, etc.

hey, serato is great. i would say it depends on ur soundcard and ur computer as to whether or not you can record ur mixes back in. i can't on my pc whilst serato is running, it is a beefy 4.2ghz dualcore, but obviously the usb controller isn't up to scratch. this is probably something that you'll find out when you get it.

aside from that it is pretty minimal on actual cpu use.

enjoy

and...get it...
