I wouldn't recommend using them for production as they're not that flat and are designed for DJing. I have a pair but don't use them in the studio unless I'm on the decks.
I swear by the Proline 650's, older model, they're way flatter and not as coloured as the DJ1 Pros.

hows the bass response on the proline 550's? i have sennheiser hd280 pros and while i like them and they are pretty flat. the bass response is just not there. bass always sounds sort of muddy and dulled out. they are great for revealing higher end detail though.
