Clicking in my sub bass. How can I get rid of it. It hits on the attack. I've tried adjusting my main envelop, but I can't get rid of it. Any tips on getting rid of this sub bass clicking.
Also. Any links for sub bass 808 kick style patches? I more or less just want to see how they are set than use them for my own production. I'd probably even buy them. That brings up another noob question. Where'es the best place to trade/purchase Massive patches?
Thanks ya'll. Good luck.

why, why, why massive for this stuff
sorry i know thats not helpful its just i'm so sick of hearing about this damn thing
Make sure the envelope you're adjusting is in fact assigned to the oscs' amplitude, and set the amp knob(s) to zero, with the envelope depth at full so the amplitude precisely follows the envelope's control. There is no dedicated master amp envelope on M**sive, to my knowledge. (someone please correct me of im wrong, maybe point out where the fucker is)

sample. resample.
or just use subtractive synthesis. massive doesn't have any pure sine wave oscillators (i dont think), so you might be S.O.L. with massive.
try subtractor if you have reason. or sample an 808 kick like i said.

sometimes I make my subs in massive, when my bass has a pitch envelope - just save the envelope and use it on a plain sine. on that note, it usually pops a bit - easy way out, low pass it.

true, using the same mod sources is a good reason to stay in a given synth for sub layer. But for 808's????
c'mon, put away the massive and get funky with something else eh?
I'm still thinkin the envelope's assignment could've been neglected.. curious now
sometimes i can't get rid of a click for no apparent reason, so I'm not assuming anything

envelope 4 controls the master volume envelope, adjust the attack setting (make it longer), this will get rid of your pops.

Yeah in Massive Envelope 4 is what "mods" the amp, so the flow is different..
If you want a flat wave then just hover over the 4 assigned to mod amp and mute it..

it's not a dedicated envelope though, you can use any env or lfo/performer on your amp. sometimes you want the attack a bit higher, and in that case - low pass.

It has 2 wavetables that are pure sine if you turn the Wt-position knob all the way to the left
take out a bit of the mids on the 3rd kick and boom - a big 808 bass.

thanks for the tip. I'm guessing this is with the sin-saw and sin-sqr WT? i'm a pirate and haven't ever read the manual. ARG! I'll ask for it for my b-day.

It does, as you would imagine.

Yeah it does, it's envelope 4 by default

Lol of course it does, that's just ridiculous. Select the SINE wavetype...
You need to have the wavetable all the way to the left as well
**EDIT** just noticed i've answered Qs that both got answered already, oh well

This is how I first tried to fix the click/pop. But you lose that punch.

as in, a click or pop is a higher frequency noise than your sub - obviously. so you you put a lowpass filter 24db/oct, and bounce your sub to audio... Then it should be a pure sine with no clicks or pops.
oh, and then you can drop that audio version of your sub in a sampler... and have nearly full control with basically no CPU usage.

WRT the clicks and pops issue - this happens for me when the number of voices in the patch is maxed out. Solution is to go to the voicing tab and increase the number in the box marked max until the clicks stop. No faffing with filters required and you can still keep a nice punchy attack.

The number of voices should never be maxed out when doing sub bass. The default max is 16. Sub bass should only use 1 voice.
All you need to do is increase the attack of the amp envelope. It's not a Massive-specific trick, this has always been the case.
