Where stands dubstep in Amsterdam

Post by 4Cysdub » Tue Jun 21, 2011 11:41 am

Hi dub lovers,

it's been too long... I'm wondering... what happened to the dubstep scene in Amsterdam?
I made my "switch" from dub to dubstep in early 2008 and, like veryone else, am addicted since... although in my early days all types of dubstep would please my hears, these days I tend to appreciate the old good dark and simple combination... (Yes, Cyrus is a god to me).
Now, I remember that in Amsterdam, there used to be several dubstep shows every weekend, like you actually had to let Coki down at Paradiso / Oi! to be able to catch Kromestar at some other places... (just tripping here, never happened). We used to have to make difficult choices, even sometimes going to one party and leave at midnight to catch some other crazy artist playing elsewhere in the city!! Crews used to fight (on the forums at least), the city used to be covered with diverse types of never-enough-eye-catcher flyers, and you could even hear some dutch gradmas' conversations about dubstep and the gig from yesterday... (hahaha... excuse my fantasy)... :)

Anyway!! Here are my observations:

- dubstep.nl: the board is down for some goooood time now...
- Oi! (Gomez): we dont see that many parties going on anymore... these used to be huge! (thx 4ever for the Caspa gig in 2009!)
- Radical (@OT301): we dont see that many parties going on anymore... if any?
- Sonic Warfare (@Melkweg): we dont see that many parties going on anymore... if any?
- Colors: Juha and is crew are still around, so we are counting on them to keep it up... :)
- Lockdown Events: took over the Sonic Warfare but as mentioned above, pretty silent for a while now...

Ok, so these used to be almost monthly parties in Amsterdam, topped up by one-off event all over and around the city...

So now... what do we do... I know I should not complain but I would rather someone telling me that I am a fool and I should just go out more...(I indeed slowed down on parties lol)... I would be reinsured.

What do you think: has the scene slowed down a bit? Am I too old (29)? / Could it be that I dont pay attention to all these sub / new / "created from" genres? / Did I miss something? Any other Amsterrrrrdammerrrr with the same opinion? Shall we all gather and start organizing dubstep gigs "as it used to be in 2008"? :crybaby: :h:
