sorry what?? What are you on about? I gotta say you do post a lot of vague and slightly irrelevant stuff about dubstep music. No I don't think there's a "sound" really.

There are trends as there are in all types of music as people imitate the innovators, but there's a lot of people pushing diff vibes in dubstep, from Toasty to Kode 9 to Digital Mystikz to TRG. Just cos a fair few producers have used wobbly bass doesn't make it THE dubstep sound, that's just ridiculous.

dubstep's "sound"= physically and emotionally moving beats, generally around 140, with enough subbass to rattle your entire body when played on a big system.

the rest is still up for grabs.

what's scary is people thinking that once you throw together a halfstep riddim w/ a sub wobble, you're there.

burial's album wasn't actually that bassy but it still struck me as dubstep... just goes to show the description is even looser...

I think the more important question is:

Will discussing this sort of thing help or matter?

Sorry to pick on this post in particular, nothing personal, but there seem to be a lot of fretting, worrying and general chat about this sort of thng.

And i always ask myself, why bother or worry?

The music will out I reckon. And to that end, I hope dubstep hasn't 'found its sound' as you put it, because I don't think it needs to.

Just my tuppence!

:D
