i have a vestax pmc 170a. 3 channel mixer...
is it okay to run 1/4 phone jacks from the effect send as my main sound output from the mixer? it goes from effect send with 1/4 phone jacks on the mixer to a external soundcard, then my studio monitors are coming off my sound card with 1/4" phone jacks
for output on the mixer, my only options are line output (RCA jack only)...record out (RCA jack only)...and effect send (1/4" phone jack)
my soundcard only has input for 1/4", and it seems to be working fine. just making sure it isnt going to ruin anything or make recordings sound like crap.
thanks guys!

Re: noobie dj question #2
Why are you sending signal from your mixer into your soundcard? Wouldnt you be wanting to send from your soundcard to the mixer?
I use 1/4" to rca adapters to send signal form my sound card to my mixer.
Then i use a rca to xlr adapter to send my mixer to the front of house board. I monitor using the mixer cue features and usually the place i play at will have monitors on stage as well.
Gold plated adapters will have "best" sound quality if you care about degradation of sound quality and using adapters.

Re: noobie dj question #2
Unless you don't touch the crossfader then I wouldn't do what your suggesting. Buy some RCA to 1/4" adaptors instead.
Edit: Scrap that first point, it seems reasonable to assume that post fader sends would be post cross fader also. Buy some bloody adaptors though

the whole reason i wanna go from mixer record out into soundcard is for recording dj mixes.
