JSA - best way around the bastard interviews

Post by ahier » Wed Jun 29, 2011 10:31 am

so im signing on now because not work has got, quite frankly, ridiculous. anyone got any tips on not succumbing to the evil interviews they give you? last time i tried (and failed) to sign on they gave me a right good rodgering, i left the place red faced and clutching my prolapsed anus in.
would a diary of job interviews and applications ive done help? should i just sit back and take a rodgering for the sake of the cash? why cant free money be easy?

Its a service there to help you, not for you to abuse. Also it isn't "free money". You have to put the effort in searching for a job to get it.

You get given a "diary" to fill in. You also get a sheet with the agreement between yourself and the JCP that says you must take certain steps every fortnight in looking for work. Do this, fill in your diary and you shouldn't have a problem.

You can apply for it online now too.

i've never had any problem with them tbh.... other than them fucking up my claim and not paying me for months, which was nice

but they've never been a dick to me really; just utterly incompetent. probably depends entirely on the branch/staff in question so i don't know if you were just unlucky. what did they do that was so bad?

taking 3 steps to get a job a week is ridiculously easy tbh. when i was in on monday this guy was kicking off because he was being challenged about applying for jobs, but 3 a week is nothing. i do more than that most days

Exactly what Badge has said!

I've got the single fittest woman in my town as my matching advisor, she's of a similar age yet I'm too scared to ask her for drinks! :(

(my tongue was in my cheek with that comment, im well aware its not free money - id rather have a job, and have been searching fruitlessly, but my dad wants me to claim: "its my tax money so you may as well benefit from it".)

@badger - my interview technique was not so great when i last applied, i was 18 and didnt know anything (not that i do now), and basically collapsed at this womans questions about how hard id been looking for a job, and got a lecture from her about not trying. Is it only 3 a week? Ive been doing more than that so hopefully itll be alright, im only so wary because of my past experience (though i was naive and a twat then)

Nothing says "I've got swag" like asking out a matching advisor during a jsa interview.

Even if you haven't looked for work one particular week, its easy to feed them a crock of shit and still get your money.

If you crumble in a jsa interview i think you might need a kick up the backside/some help with life skills.

Bad idea, when they catch you out you're fucked and there is a high possibility you may have to pay them the money back/go to court and risk a sentence for benefit fraud if you can't!

I believe what Oliver is trying to get across is that, given females of a breeding age often consider finacial security a factor when choosing a suitable mate, your appearance in front of her at the JSA would confirm that you are at this time without gainful employment, and therefore unable to provide her with the aforementioned security.

Ah. I had my first one with a right tnuc last Friday.

'Do you think you deserve this money?'
'Yeah actually, I do.'

tnuc.

I've always thought it was wierd how people who've never worked in their lives, and thus never paid tax feel more comfortable about claiming jsa than people who just happen to be out of work at that current time.

Yeah I know, I was just being facetious mate! That is the main reason I wouldn't risk it. :cornlol:

I'm no closer to getting a job, or having the inclination to get one, like 18 months after claiming JSA. I did want a job at first because I thought y'know, not being arrogant but a guy with decent A levels and relative intelligence could get one easily, how wrong I was. I am resigned to living on the dole for the foreseeable future, I've embraced it... It's about experience nowadays over potential ability, the people at the top of the hierarchy must be rubbing their podgy hands with glee because they're not short of staff now to work for them, they have an excuse to lay off who they like practically and their own jobs are relatively safe (you can make three staff redundant to save a manager's bacon, financially. Plus the people at the top must have a cameraderie, you scratch my back I scratch yours sort of thing. How else did they make it to the top without a bit of arse-licking?
