Dubstep at 130bpm

Post by youthful_implants » Thu Jun 30, 2011 3:30 am

Is there a reason why artists are writing music at this tempo apart from the blindingly obvious "because its closer to house music?"

Can anyone point me in the direction of dubstep artists writing at this tempo?

Dj abstract - touch is an early example of this, off tempa allstars 1

Kowtown makes some sick stuff at this speed or slower
Really gives a lot of room for swing :)

It's a great tempo to work with, 2 step sounds really good at 130, but I guess it's all relative.
haven't heard much halfstep at 130?

It's called bass music, it evolves faster than any other kinds of music.

ive recently switched to 128-130, and let me tell you, there are some amazingly interesting tunes!!! everyone in my city is on moombahtones dick and there hasnt been that much 140 i can get my hands on that i want to play to a crowd of hot girls. mostly the 140 dubstep that im into is a bit too dark and minimal (and reliant on SUPER sub pressure) for me to want to play it out anymore. this 130 strain of dubstep influenced uk funkyish techno stuff has really opened up the vibes for me. im always into the more percussive stuff anyways. i g2g but ill jump back in this thread with some more info on my search soon. cheerrs!

128 bpm

check out the label hyperdub they bring a lot of music out with different tempos from 90 bpm to 145 bpm
It's about dropping a track at the wrong speed, and it sounding better than the real thing.

it makes it slower so you can make it more dramatic and put more emotion and creativity into it
