Looking through those pictures, Gotham, I realize how much I love the EDM/Dubstep scene. Everyone has their own unique style and sound. There's no certain fashion that everyone follows. They all just look like normal people.

This is a production forum and this image has absolutely nothing to do with production therefore this thread is waste.

The purpose of this thread is to motivate and support other producers on this forum. Your post is a waste.

You'll be going high,
no lie,
you know you'll be
tourin' :W:

But seriously, Dubstep is still such a controversial genre, and not that popular to begin with. So, unless you start making Progressive or Electro House music, you won't have a fanbase like Deadmau5 (I don't particularly like his fan base to be fair).

I have faith the youth will push the boundaries of Dubstep. Only time will tell. See you when you're 18!

Wow, thanks a lot! ha ha :)

and I have to argue against that, Dubstep is probably just behind Dance, R&B and Pop music in the UK.. sorry to reference UKFdubstep but they have like 600,000 subscribers which is more than all the major record labels in the world such as islandrecords/allaroundtheworld/ministryofsound .. so Dubstep certainly has a huge fanbase but no-one 'rules' dubstep whereas deadmau5 is like 5000 miles in front of all the other house producers haha.. but bassnectar & skrillex etc. headline shows with 40/50k fans which is insane!

+1. I think that this is what's wrong with dubstep now. It's all about the kiddies who focus on getting the fame, girls and money. The focus on the tunes has been completely lost.

That is very true. I completely forgot the efforts in the States from the Canadians and Americans who are giving Dubstep a lot of exposure. Disregard my earlier statement.

The thing about Deadmau5 is his his music isn't necessarily redefining. He's a great producer and his tracks are immense, but I think his fanbase is more due to the fact that he's an even better social DJ. There are much better House producers (like Chris Lake) who aren't nearly as popular as he is, but they don't have that Mau5head niché / gimmick, a record label or his personality. With those great tattoos, his constant touring and his popularity on the Internet -- in the gaming community, YouTube and Facebook -- he picked up a large following. He's just very social , and with the addition of his musical abilities, producing length, live chats / tutorials, and personality, he became so huge. Same with Skrillex.

Bassnectar is just unreal when it comes to sound engineering and groove :h:
He's also incredibly social, if you've ever seen his many interviews and his Facebook album / status'.

I was actually thinking about that the other day, like producers either have an awesome logo (I know it sounds stupid but just a really unique logo can give you more fans) and the gimmicks they have.. like skrillex has his own font and like you say deadmau5 has the mouse head thing, inspectordubplate has the mustache gimmick which isn't even good and Modestep & Funtcase have the masks and stickers and all of these producers are the more mainstream ones possibly helped by the gimmicks I was thinking a lot about how just having your own logo can help
