Sup DSF, haven't posted in awhile, been somewhat discouraged, but after seeing a bunch of really awesome local producers Nightmare, Wick-It just to name a few on top of Borgore and Sluggo on saturday. The wheels are rolling again I think. I'm just sitting here working on a bass, and I'm just curious as to what everyone prefers effects wise on their low, mids, and highs. Just looking for personal preferences or tricks even to match to and apply to my own. Thx pce

distortion of course and some flangers can give some cool sounds, but it depends on the patch your working on as to what effects you use ..

after i freq split, i like a bitchrusher on the low part with a eq after that to bring some hi end to the bitcrushed low end, and a small reverb on the high part with some kind of stereo shaper to give it depth, but have the low end mono

Have your wobble or whatever on mixer track ( well say 1 for this example) mixer track 1. Now send mixertrack 1 to tracks 2 and 3 ( look uP mixer routing for your daw) now on track 2 low pass and hi pass 3. Send 2 and 3 to track 4 and that out to he master.

Bitcrushing the low end? Wouldn't that destroy the bass?

If I ever put effects on the low end of a mid-range bassline, I EQ out the lows around 100-150 or so. After, I throw a sub under there that mimics the mid-range.
This way you get whatever crazy sound you want, but with a solid sub bass to keep it clean and punchy.

Yeah, definitely. You can get some cool effects by bitcrushing low frequencies though like in SebastiAn's track H.A.L.

I find myself using the WOW filter a lot lately. It's really good if you want to make vocally growl basses.

Yeahhhh, that's awesome^^

I like to put slightly detuned saw waves through saturators/distortion and then throw a sub under after I EQ for a gritty, wide bassline. 8)

Most of my midrange basses dont go below 200hz, to leave room for the sub, so theres nothing technically its destroying, and if its losing defintion ill boost the eq a bit in the lower end. and i use that method for brostep so should my sounds sound destroyed? :dunce:
