Trinity is as Trinity does and mid-July sees Brixton Jamm hosting a triple-whammy of launches wrapped up in one heavyweight event, powered by King Tubby’s HiFi.
We’ll be celebrating not only the launch of Trinity Music Brixton Records but also our inaugural release, the brilliant self-titled debut EP by OnlyJoe. OnlyJoe embody the Trinity spirit by blending classic reggae sounds with a 21st century sensibility.
Continuing that theme, we have 2 generations of the legendary Ariwa Records Studios headlining. Dub legends Mad Professor and his sons Joe Ariwa & Karmelody will be heading up rooms 1 and 2 respectively to launch their Back To Africa festival, happening in the Gambia January 2012. More British music icons feature as the original dancehall Junglist, General Levy takes to the stage,performing tracks from his new EP, recorded with Joe Ariwa.
There’s a supporting cast of Trinity artists, armed with imminent releases for the label. The extra versatile singjay 2Nice will be there, hip hop Trio Divine Rights, DJ and MC rising stars Hylu & Jago, plus Mindstep maestro and Rinse FM DJ, Crises, bringing his unique and exquisitely selected take on British bass.
It wouldn’t be a Trinity dance without something proper for the Junglists – this time courtesy of Digital Niya Binghi aka Paul Ibiza and Winston Runtingz. Warming up the dance for Joe Ariwa in Room 2, will be Urban Nerd, Daddy Nature, the vital Lionpulse dub duo, Italian reggae crew, Brixton Heights, and the great DJ Snuff, fresh from touring with Snoop Doggy Dogg.
