search red squares rules of improvement, a sample pack and a pack of about 300 breaks. should be plenty

If you have the money, vengeance packs are ace. Bought them, never looked back ;-)

Took a special liking to this pack, by REKKERD. Also, Hydrogen is a drum machine/sequencer for GNU/Linux; they have pretty good sample packs on their Sourceforge.

Goldbaby is another great manufacturer. They've got some free to download packs on their website :)

listen to the man. the tape808 is worth it's weight in gold for the kick/bass samples alone.

here's a list of free drum machine samples.

especially worth checking out are Goldbaby stuff, Wave Alchemy (!), and ToneBuilder freebies.

commerical packs, i'd advice the thomas penton essential drum packs over the vengeance essential club sounds any day
oh and as already mentioned the goldbaby tape 808 pack is essential
the meanbeat kits are suck as well (the original site went down, but i think ben (paradigm x) has them mirrored)
now in the vengeance series the minimal tech/house ones are good and a better value than the essential clubsound ones imo
other than that grab the classic funk breaks and chop em up and layering is your friend
loads of links to sites that have those breaks (clone from doa's sample swap, cyberworm's sample blog, etc that a quick search here will pull up)
the best advice i can give is avoid buying packs made specifically for the genre you're trying to make (ie: dubstep drum pack) as they tend to be shit
