Easily the best audio/visual combination I've seen. Love that style of music too, only discovered it today :/

Whenever someone asks me that question I just tell them that it's "electronic music"

Might as well post the other "official" Autechre music videos.

What could you possibly find appealing about that kind of music?

You just don't get it man!!!
I actually don't know, I just find it interesting. Can't really pinpoint it.. sometimes I feel like I can just get lost in those sounds.

The sound design and arrangement is all dictated by deep mathmatics. All the synthesis has been built and programmed from the ground up. Theres actually an incredible ammount of order and deliberate-ness about their music. Thats what i enjoy about it.
Plus all their raves are in pitch black.

God I love that tune
Also love an excuse to post this picture of Autechre's workflow & bespoke DAW design;
Makes my nipples a bit stiff everytime I look at it. Not sure why. It could be envy, it could be latent geekism rising up in my soul, it could be the fact I've got no fucking clue what's going on.

Autechre is in my top 3 ever, and Confield is one of my favorite albums of all time. All their albums are quite difficult to get into, but once you got them, there's nothing like it.
Seeing them live was something else, and the best live experience I've ever witnessed.
And the Gantz Graf video is fantastic.
This unofficial video is fantastic, too:
I hate the term IDM, though, and I wish there was something else to describe this music. Makes it sound so pretentious and cold when really, it's not.

Their MSP patch is absolute madness. And they have some serious automation going on in their DAW.
I wasn't aware their music was mathematically generated. It sounds really nice though, and was a joy to listen to whilst stoned at 3am. I might have a crack at generating some of that stuff when I actually figure the ins and outs of MSP!

not all of it is! I think they began to incorporate generated elements with Confield. I might be wrong, though!

I would call most newer Autechre glitch or glitch-hop. Their older stuff was techno and ambient for the most part.
