Help! Reaktor 5 in Fl9/10

HI guys. I know there are umpteen videos and tuts for creating synths etc but my query is how the f**k do I use FL and Reaktor together?
It's set up and rearing to go, I have the synths rocking but when it comes to the groovebox/glitch ensembles I just can't seem to trigger them from FL!!! I don't want the sequences playing all the time so how do I get the sequences to trigger when I want? Surely I don't need to automate the on/off switch?
The manual may as well have been written in Chinese, I'm new to the really technical side and the jargon is melting me!
Is this a stupid question? What the hell am I missing?
cheers!

are we talking about using reaktor fx on an audio/midi channel?
have you set up a sepearate midi channel to control reaktor fx as well as having it running on the channel you want to effect?

no mate. I'm using Reaktor as a VST on its own channel. I'm trying to control the way the glitchy ensembles play. ie start and stop and which slices they trigger. I have the synth ens. rocking it up but with the groovebox/glitch ens. they start playing as soon as I hit the main play button and don't stop until I stop the whole tune.
Is there a way to trigger sequences from the playlist/step sequencer?

The only workaround i know is to automate the main mute/unmute parameter for the groove box.
Heres a guide found from idmforums written in 08 by einmeier maybe itl help you find the right thing to automate.
http://www.idmforums.com/showthread.php ... ation+live
and even if you don't own a hardware-controller, let me write a more detailled guide right now for you , i just opened up live6 on my macBook to guide you thru all steps:
1. open up ableton live and load an instance of an reaktor-instrument-plug (!) (not an effect) to any midi-channel
2. let's say, you'll now open an synthesizer-ensemble, let's take 'ok computer 2.0' from the factory-library
3. switch from clip-view to arrangement-view in live, so later we can open up the midi-cc more easily
4. select 'IN' on the midi-channel and activate the midi-keyboard-thingie in live, so you can play a lil' melody by hitting a few keys on your computers keyboard. works? you hear the notes you're playing? fine.
5. in ableton live straight below the text 'MIDI' there's a drop-down, there you can select the destination of the automation-parameter, usually there you find
a) the MIXER and
b) a 2nd entry 'Reaktor5'
6. choose 'reaktor5', the
7. second dropdown right below will now get activated
8. open up that dropdown and - hooray - you do see nearly ALL parameters of the ok.computer ensemble
9. select - for example - 'Filter:cut'
10. and draw a curve right into the midi-channel
11. now switch from 'In' to 'Auto' on the midi-channel and
12. play back and ...
13. the cutoff-knob will now move magically and the sound gets modulated
best!
der einmeier
Will keep fiddling with the "tekstudio" .ens to see if i can come up with a better workaround, apologies if this is not what your asking for.

nice one mate. Thanks a mill. I searched IDM and got 1000 odd threads and not one to do with FL!

That's a good one though. I got FL running synths like a dream, using "last teaked" to assign automation. It's more controlling grooveboxes like Vortex and Massive tha I'm interested in. Just getting them to start and stop when I want, not when I hit the play button in FL.
I just noticed as well that he stop and play buttons aren't at the top when I open as a VST in FL and the screen ain't big enough to see the bottom. I'm at my smallest resolution so I think I'm gonna have to give it up as a lost cause for now.
Think I'll have to run as a standalone and get recording/chopping.
Besides, my wife's due to have a baby tomorrow so I think my hands are gonna be a bit full for the next wee while and not with Reaktor!!
All the best mate,
JG

GoBox, Massive, Aerobic, Vortex (Twisted Tools.com). Stuff like that mate. I just want it to stop and start.
Cheers for the regards mate. I'm an old hand at this parenthood now so you'd think I'd have learned my lesson by now! Only myself to blame. It's a lot easier than figuring Reaktor out that's for sure!

So been looking and experimenting but havent come across an nice solution.
It seems ur options are to either record it to audio which u can then put into a sampler.(Something called Edison was mentioned)
Mute Unmute it when u want the patternt to play.
Set up a blank SnapShot and switch between that and ur Loop SnapShots.
Edit the Drum Machine with a "Kill switch" and automate that.
^_^ good luck with ur endeavours

Yeah, a lot of ensembles in Reaktor need volume automation, spesh the glitchy stuff; I usually record a little jam and bounce the audio but automation works.
