Seriously, are there any actual benefits? I've never tried it myself, but the arrangement grid isn't the easiest tool to work with (for precise programming atleast). I don't see why anyone would use it over the Drum Rack, which is a simpler in itself. I guess it's personal preference, but I'd love to see your view on this.

Because as far as I see, the Drum Rack is 100 x better than Impulse and Simpler arrangement.

When I throw my kicks, snares, etc. in impulse they usually come out too bloody loud!

if you want to get really funky with your drum beats and want to do a bunch of automations then drum racks are a pain. but they are convenient.

simpler for kick, audioclips for everything else. cuz for some reason when i drag out kicks in audio the quality is all shitted but not when there in midi.

I think that's because Impulse's default volume is at 0db, while simplers/drum racks have it set to like -12db



Personally, I just use simplers for all my drums. I like to keep everything on separate channels. There's no real reason behind it, but that's how I've always done it.

I like it cause it looks neat. Tried doing it on my latest WIP, since there were a few times the break shuffles, so I just programmer the midi, then bounced the shuffles all out for future use. This way, in the final song, all I'll need is an audio track. Not that that's a bonus, it's just...

I don't know if this counts but in FL, we have FPC which I don't use simply because I don't know how to use it and there's no point in using it unless I have pads, which I don't yet.

load 16 drum samples into it, you get the choose what mixer track they fall on, also what key on a keyboard to trigger them, so you can make custom little drum kits in it.

When I am doing the final arrangement, I prefer to have it as separate audio tracks so I cut sections out for short drops, etc

I hear people say this a lot, but with Drum Rack, the elements are on seperate channels...Just go to session view and click that little arrow besides "Drum Rack" and they all appear separately, then you can group all the kicks, snares, etc., then apply effects.

see i find it easier having it all in the same place but i will then record the diff channels from the drum rack into seperate audio tracks for further work/tweaking.

if you are programming drums to be non-repetitive jumping around through multiple channels just to arrange percussion i would be going nuts. think about if square pusher was try to arrange beats in multiple midi devices it would be a nightmare

But now instead of just having one drum rack to deal with, you now have 3! Thats 3x the midi clips you need if my calculations are correct lol. i could only see myself using the drum rack if i had a mpd or whatever and needed a virtual controller, not for programming my drums with a mouse though, looks more pretty all layed out in audio

But that's the same as using 3 separate Simplers, haha.

The selling point of a Drum Rack is having all your drum parts together in one view, while still being able to apply effects to all of them separately.
