Looking into control surfaces:
I have an M-Audio Axiom midi keyboard, and I'm looking to purchase my first control surface. I've looked into the Akai APC and MPC/MPD and the Ableton Novation Launchpad.
Basically, what I want to get in out of it in terms of functionality is:
Be able to trigger certain clips/scenes on the fly
Crossfade between tracks
Onboard mixer for different tracks
A mouse-free way to activate and deactivate certain FX and maybe control their parameters
I will mostly be using this at home, for programming drum beats, getting inspiration etc. and whatnot.
I've also heard of behringer but didn't really look into it. I heard they male cheap control surfaces.
And by the way, I'm looking to spend around only $300 CAD.
Thanks.

APC40 looks pretty sick. Pretty sure it has everything you need.

akai is superior products to novation launchpad. On the ebay i found apc40s lightly used for 200 dollars which is about what you pay for the launchpad so i would go apc 40 for sure. I mena did you see the ill.gates template had a VU meter hack for the light up pads that will show you your levels and your masters levels with out having to look at the laptop. You can even mix the whole set internally and not have to worry about a dj mixer or the quality of dj mixer you get stuck with at a club. i cant wait to upgrade my dj rig with this tech.

Im pretty happy with my M Audio Trigger finger...

I got this because of the motorized faders. you can jump between projects and the faders will move back to previous positions. It take a while to get it to work properly because you have to set it up to run in makie mode, but its worth it!

maudio trigger finger is discontinued, so you will have to by it used... thats why people are moving to the mpd series or apc.

Good point and they're not that easy to find used either.

The APC40 has everything you just requested and so much more. One of the best investments I have made (so far).
Honestly, you won't regret buying one of these mothers.

yeah the apc sounds like exactly what you need, would love one of them in my setup.
