people always told me this (read the fucking manual) and i never took the time to do it until recently. as a result, i've learned amazing things about plug-ins that ive had for like years and never known about. like melohman mode in ohmicide, where you can morph the distortion using your keyboard?? so fucking tight and i never had any idea it was even there. also i realized that most of the reasons i switched from fl studio to cubase were stupid, because while i thought fl was lacking features that i needed which cubase had, i realized that i really just had no idea how to do a ton of shit in fl.

anyways, i just wanted to let you guys know that if you want to advance your production skills by a huge amount in a very short time, just read the fucking manual, it's totally worth it and its not even as hard as normal reading is (for me at least) because it's something you're interested in.

Its TapeOp's and SoundOnSound's for me, sometimes the paper but if it wasn't for the toilet i'd of never got through the Factory Records book.

For me atm, its How To Do Everything, and FEAR by Geoff Thompson. A strange combo but they keep me occupied while i'm erm, occupied.

kindle on my smartphone makes for loooooong bathroom breaks at work!

hahaha im just really not that much of a reader, its usually not interesting or engaging to me and id rather be listening to music and/or out doing things with people. my partner is a total bookworm though so i get where it comes from, it's just pretty far outside my scope of interest a lot (re: most) of the time. good for yall that do it though!!

The last book I read was the Massive manual, I tried to follow it up with the Absynth manual, but always fall asleep on the chapter on envelopes

yea there was enough twists and turns in massive to keep me interested, but absynth just kind of drags along.. a little too cerebral and even kind of pretentious at times.

ive read my mpc 3000 user manual more then ten times thru...

i even had it before i bought the machine...

its my fav piece of equipment soft/hard ever owned.. is it a coincidence? hmmm ... not sure.

I guess i just get used to reading manuals in my job (pc tech) so reading mauals for music production stuff isnt a very far stretch from any other tech manual. I usually download the pdf manual for things i am thinking about purchasing and oing research before i even ahve a product/plugin ordered lol but im a nerd so this it jsut how i operate, i must know something about everything so i can keep my wife annoyed right:?
