Cypriot, actually.




leipäjuusto - never tried that; is it something you can only really get from Deli's? Never seen it just laying around in the cheese isle!

yeah leipäjuusto is killing it but they can hardly be compared as they're being used for totally different things. leipäjuusto with some cloudberry jam is more of a dessert. halloumi is the main course, with some chips or between a sandwich. yummy yum! :)

This is what I used to make a lot, sometimes more of a gyro with lamb, but sometimes the meat is too overpowering. Substitute it with mushrooms too for epic tastes. Great with tzatziki (sp?) the common Greek yoghurt/cucumber sauce.

Also used to like to make some transcontinental poutine and substitute the normal cheese curds with halloumi. Not been able to find it so easily after I last moved though, the market I used to live by had all kinds of foods flown in from around Greece and the middle east/southeast Asia.
