Does anyone here produce on a screen larger than 20 inches? I'm gettin a 22" flat ting and obviously I instantly thought dat it might affect my production experience. all the little dials in software etc etc
Its widescreen aswell, does it matter? will it make any difference?

i personally think that it's great to have a large desktop for producing and that's exactly what you get with your large screen as it lets you set the resolution very high obviously.. don't set the resolution too high becuase then the little dials will definitely become too small
in the future i'd like to get smth similar but not only one screen, but two screens to have dual view so i can lay out all the software and VSTs on this extra wide desktop - makes producing a lot easier for me, rather than switching between several windows in one monitor all the time

yes 2 screens is the way to go, and widscreens are cool,

I would personally put it at the highest, sharpest resolution, but it depends on your eyesite.

I have the arrange page on the left, and two rows of track mixers on the right with an audio window open aswell. The beauty of Logic is you can create these templates.

Here's what mine look like

Yeah, the right one started to make a buzz sound, but the tshirts sorted that out, plus the bass sounds tighter, although I now have a 12" sub under my desk, so the event tr8s don't have to handle anything under 80 hz :D

what are studio monitors like for just listening to tunes for your own enjoyment? im looking at buying some monitors and sub for production but also just to listen to tracks in my room and when people over for drinks and shit like that, do they suit that purpose or are they only good for flat response and finding unwanted frequencys etc... just wondering cuz ive never had the chance to hear them

problem with projectors is that the fan is gonna kick in, then you'll have a fan in the studio - not the best thing :)

I love monitors for my own listening enjoyment. I find nearly all hi-fi systems either really syruppy or really brittle. Once you get used to a flat response, anything else is hard to take.

you wont wanna tire them out by loud parties or anything tho. they arent suited for that.

they can take a bit of volume tho? id assume you'd want to hear your mix at a loud level to get different perspective...

i mean i dont want to be rattling my windows but id want to at least crank it a bit... i spose its a little hard to gauge how loud i could safely listen to my monitors in text :\

I just got 2 Samsung SyncMaster 941BW's Widescreen 19"

Other than needing a video card upgrade and the KVM woes I am experiencing to switch from my PC to Mac, I love em and they are better for the environment than my monstrous 19" CRTs.

Recently added a 20" digital widescreen monitor, where I was previously using my laptop, and can't believe I didn't do it sooner.

take your favorite cd.. one that you love, something classic that you've heard a gang of times. listen to track 1 5 or 6 times in a row at home... immediately drive down to guitar center or some other pro audio store that had monitors set up and ask one of the sales people to let you listen to that track on their monitors. then you'll feel it.
