Applying Reverb to Reverse Clap

How do you guys get that sucking sound at the beginning of your reversed claps? I have just taken an audio sample and reversed it. Do i put reverb on the audio and then reverse it? Logic Space Designer has a reverse function but i can't figure out how to get the reverb in the "right spot" of the clip if you will. It always appears at the end and doesn't get me that "suck" at the beginning.

Thx.

somewhat answered my own question. Here is a good tutorial for you all. Interested in hearing other techniques though as well as layering reverse claps. Do you usually cut some of the reversed sample and apply another clap for the high end?

  • Take sample
  • Reverse sample
  • Add reverb
  • Bounce in place
  • Reverse back to normal so that reverb is at the start

Try doing this on vocals - Keith's lyrics in Prodigy - Firestarter have HEAVY amounts of reverse reverb on them. Listen back to it and you'll hear the effect.

What wub said. Also works quite well with delay / other elongating effects.

ps. elongating sounds like the word I mean. It may not be.

pps. It is.

Yeah put a 5-7 second long reverb, freeze it then reverse it.
