Hey, I have a vocal effect question concerning the vocals in the beginning of Existence/Existence VIP by Excision
Basically, how do they get that kinda throaty-bassy sound? I've heard it also in a few other tracks like in the drop in Amplifier by Diplo and Skrillex.
Please help!!!!

I can kind of get this effect simply by down-pitching a sample maintaining it's original length, adding some distortion effects and making the sample pan between the left and right channels incredibly quickly. I'm sure if you resampled the output it would be even better. Although someone probably has a better answer
Also it helps a lot if your original sample is low in pitch obviously.

if youre using ableton, theres a preset in the audio effects section for vocals, i think its called Freak Voice..play around with that on a vocal sample and itll get you close

Anyways pitch it down, look up tutorials for demon voices and stuff like that on youtube. Audacity is good for that stuff.

This gets asked a lot, do a search, there's been some threads. Probably about 10 days since the last thread I saw about this exact track.
Also the voice has to sound pretty much like that to begin with, so hire a voice actor or do it yourself, then apply some basic effects and experiment. It probably won't sound exactly like it, but why would you want it to... much rather have it be unique, no?

Not exactly (But it helps ): Soundcloud
An example of what I said, not exactly the same but it sounds cool to me, took 1 minute at most
The booming you hear in the bg is actually in the original sample as tapping - it just got amplified on downpitching/distorting.

IMO, exactly. What I meant by "sound pretty much like that" is regarding the vocal performance itself (AKA record your best Optimus Prime impersonation), not the formant or pitch. That can be changed later. Though lower pitch is obviously better for less artifacting during processing.
