I dont have grips of cash on hand, but an looking to get a cdj, just so i can play tracks that i dont have and cannot get on vinyl. I am looking at the Pioneer CDJ 100S right now....... and also see a good deal on a .........Gemini cdj-02 *cough* *cough*.

The Pioneer looks like it has what I am looking for.. the Gemini has a very attractive price tag.

Has anyone used any of these?

I have one of those gemini's - perfectly usable. Just takes a bit of getting used to.

High end Pioneers are definitely worth their price tag though.. an absolute joy to mix on.

This is the one - best sound under 500 bucks and you can cue it up (kinda) like wax.

i was looking at that denon.. deff the best for the price.. however i cant find a price tag that works for me.

oh.. ben.. does the jog-pad spin freely or is it spring loaded and only moves up and down a little?

yeah it spins freely doesn't have a rewind facility though, and doesn't behave like vinyl

I had one I think it was the 100. I don't know, bought it in like 2000. It was no fun to use but if you fuck with it long enough you can get it. Then I bought a used cdj800 and I am happy with it. The only prob is I cant scrape enough cash to buy a second one.

if you've already got turntables and a computer (which i'm guessing you do), you can get serato for under $500 these days.

i dont have a laptop.. i will get one at some point, however...

the reason i am thinking about going with a cdj in the first place is that i cannot afford to get vinyl like i was a few months ago.. i see a 'temporary' solution to pick up the tracks being released on mp3 so i can keep up on the freshness, save a lot of money and at the same time not "commit" to mp3 format by buying sarato. i prefer vinyl 1000% and i would spend every friggin cent on this scene.... i had to pass on 50,000 watts.. i was waiting on that tune to drop.

No I don't think so, It's been a long time since I had it sorry. I'm not even sure if the current model is the same as the one I had.

yeah I picked the cdj02 up earlier this year because I wanna be able to play dubs out without having to get all of them cut. The deck is alright though, it's just a bit mental the 1st few times you use it

Traktor just came out with "scratch" which is similar to, but runs circles around Serato.

I use 2 technic's dz1200's, while the spinning platter feature is fucking tits, but they sound like garbage when you try to scratch on them.

cdj 100 is a piece, if your really serious about djing, save your money and get something you won;t have to turn around in a year or so. The denon just feels too much like a toy with that janky cd like platter.

Check out vestax new line of hybrid vinyl/cd tables. I almost want to sell my tables to get a pair of these. Theres no digital distortion when you pull back on the platter.

I have a pair of the CDJ-100S'. They are usable, but yeah, not so great. You can't rewind, but the zip effect on it makes it sound like you spun it down. I think you'd be better off with a used cdj-800, but if you could score one for < $150 it might be a good temporary solution.

thanks guys. sounds like it may not be the best move to go for a 100 or 02, being that i am looking for more functionality, and would only just end up hating on them until i get something better.

i might as well just push the whole thing off until i get my chips up again.. but that means that i wont be getting any new tunes for months..

i bought a vestax last year, it's ok. i still think that it's better & cheaper than the cdj 100/200s. anyways, as long as you don't buy a denon, i think you're on the safe side
