Dubstep records with techno crossover potential...

Post by sixgods&stars » Sat Jun 02, 2007 11:30 pm

First of all: Hi guys, I'm a newbie...Hope to have a nice time on this forum!

Second of all:

I'm searching for tracks with a tempo and rythm which makes it fun to mix with (minimal) techno. I'm new to the scene, so I only know the big names, and the ones I like the most are Mala and Shackleton. Most of the dubstep tracks sound awesome, but there are only a few who keep the driving tempo going, and that's something essential for a descent techno set. A perfect example of such a track is Mala - Left Leg Out.

Does anybody have some tips about tracks/producers/labels that can satisfy my thirst ;)?

Thanks in advance

Check Skream's Marc Ashken remixes and Appleblim's Vansan...
Many more but those are the two that come to mind right away

I'd say Luke Envoy's Gamma intro & outro would mix well with Techno, and even though the remainder is quite heavy half-step it's still well syncopated.

Some artists that produces minimal techno and dubstep that fits perfectly:

Burial
Appleblim
Shackleton
Monolake
T++
Rhythm & Sound
Moving Ninja
Distance
Plastikman (Richie Hawtin)
Villalobos
Substance
Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us, and the sky was full with what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, and a voice was screaming:
Holy Jesus. What are these goddamn animals?

Yeah, Villalobos, he's the best according to me. He's been playing some dubstep tracks lately too. Great thing the genres are finding a way leading to eachother!
