I used to make rap instrumentals for a whole gang, they often paid me in weed and xanax mixed with cash. Coke was an option too but I'm not into it. They had so much xanax, that the few times I mic'd them up, they were so off beat it was insane. A key didn't even exist. If someone thinks it's hard to understand a southern rapper drawl as it is, try when they are on 4 bars and alcohol lol. Almost got shot about 5 times... not from being threatened, but from people passing out and dropping pistols.

i dont have problems with the rappers i make beats for but they're coming down here to austin from dallas.

you're in austin with me right? are you working with austin rappers or houston ones?

there's a guy who owns one of the better studios in Dallas who tells a story about his old fashioned 'queer hating' dad kicking out a bunch of 'long haired cigarettes' from his recording studio. Ended up being Pantera recording Power Metal lol. Sucks to be biased/racist/ignorant like that

Yeah if someone is gonna travel like that, they will usually have their shit sorted.
I'm outside houston atm. I go between austin and houston right now, but that gang thing was when I was staying in satx a few years ago.

I agree with you btw, that thread seemed to have a lot of racial undertones there. A lot of the gearslutz engineers are 50+ too, so yeah out of touch. There was some funny posts though, like the guy making fun of the Cash Money guys who came to his studio or whatever and he turned them down because he thought they weren't going anywhere.

^ Hahaha exactly. I felt like DJ Qualls/Shelby from that movie the entire time.
It was always a good time though, but they had short tempers for sure.
