What kind of control surface/ MIDI mixer are you guys using?

I've had a Novation Zero SL control surface for some time now, and to be honest, I'm sick of the thing. I never use it because it's so unreliable. The software has never worked right since the day I got it, it never detects Logic and I have to turn it off and on, exit and restart automap a bunch of times and Automap always crashes in Logic. I have emailed Novation about this problem, and every time it seems to fix it for a while and do the same thing again.

I'd like to sell it and get a different control surface, the problem is that nothing seems to have the same features in the price range. I paid like 300 bucks for it. I'd really like something that comes already set up for logic, I know a lot of control surfaces do. The Korg MicroKontrol looks nice, but it's way to small to be accurate I would imagine. What are you guys using?

I wonder how that remote sl is with other hosts? I tried it with fruity many long time ago and it was excellent. I was just looking for pads at the time, and as you can imagine, those are not pads!

But automap worked like a champ as I recall, never crashed, anyone else have something to say on the subject?

I use mpk49 btw.

automapping for logic isn't an absolute necessity if it's the right piece of equipment. This thing is basically a giant paperweight right now.

EDIT*: In all honesty though, I feel like a control surface for mixing would slow my workflow down; at least at first. I'm too set in my ways.

if you told engineers 30 years ago that they could navigate infinite various graphical faders and knobs with one single piece of handheld equipment on a tv screen interface... they'd prob shit their pants and beg for you to sell it to them at any cost. heh heh heh..

affirmative.
This is really a shame because it would be a wonderful piece of equipment if it worked right. they use the novation controllers in like 10 of the studios at my school, so I don't know why I'm having so much trouble, I'm just tired of this thing.

I'm looking into the behringer ones with the motorized faders, anyone used one of these?
