Step Sequencer VST with Midi-enabled Steps?

Post by blazinaidan » Fri Sep 09, 2011 2:48 pm

What I mean is I'm looking for a step sequencer that features the ability to turn steps on and off via midi. For example, the ReDrum in Reason, with the ability to program the 16 steps to 16 buttons on a midi controller, would be perfect. Any suggestions?

Not sure what you mean - technically FL Studio has the step sequencer you've described, though depending on what controller you're using I'm not sure how to go about turning steps on/off individually.

like to mute the step? or to have the sequence start from different steps depending on midi?

As far as I am aware there is no way to control the FL step sequencer with midi.

If I wanted something like this I would make it in Reaktor...

Link little yellow dots to controller?

Play button to controller, pattern is tricky, and your mousing in hits.

Pretty feasible though. FPC + quantize settings and on the fly playlist work is alot easier imo.

But yeah the little yellow buttons.

Would be a fiddly bastard to setup, but once you had it all done could be saved as template.

@blazinaidan, may be I'm a little late, but you can try b-step.

This is a step sequencer as VST plugin and you can enable steps with a MIDI controller.

You can get it here: b-step sequencer.
You will find some step sequencer videos on youtube.
