I'm having trouble trying to figure out whether i should buy Traktor or Serato.... I've read quite a few reviews online which has got me swayed slightly more towards Traktor at this point in time. I'm not gonna be scratching, so i guess my main issues in no particular order would be.....

A) Affordability
B) Sound Quality
C) Ease Of Use
D) Stability
E) Connectivity

Hopefully some of you peeps might have hands on experience with both systems. I'm a bit of a spanner when it comes to all the technical jargon so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Having used both, I think Traktor may win on Affordability and Ease of Use and has more effects etc.

However, I'd say Serato wins the rest and would definitely go with Scratch Live. The UI is a million miles better, it's more stable and has far more respect in the industry than Traktor. Not that I use it, but the Bridge from Ableton is available with Serato too, which is meant to be pretty damn good.

they both do the exact same thing. traktor has a multitude of additional features in version 2, which make it pull ahead in my eyes. Id recommend getting a trial of both and just seeing which you like better.

used both and not found that much difference between them tbh, if you're an ableton user or know any then definitely get serato so you can get the bridge. if not then just see what deals you can get.

the difference between the two is this: Serato is a program designed to emulate vinyl (although it works with cd's as well), Traktor is designed more for "digital djing" off a midi controller....traktor has an "auto sync" button , so if your a wasteman dj, who never learned to mix thats probably the way to go.

all things being equal, i believe traktor owns beatport...that bit of information would be enough to put me into the serato camp.

fwiw i have serato and all can say is the one time i used traktor i hated the layout/gui...but i suppose one would get used to it.

whats the difference between scratch live and sl3 with serato? dont really get the whole ting... and the rane hardware stuff?

serato and rane have a partnership. serato makes the scratch live software which is up to version 2.3 i believe. and rane makes the physical hardware, the sl 1 , sl 2, sl 3 and sl 4 as well as the ttm-57 and whatever that real expensive new mixer is(the 68?). the sl-1(the original) is no longer in production. the sl-2, 3 and 4 have 2, 3 and 4 channels respectively.

The auto isn't really. You still have to program grid points on all the waveforms beforehand, which if you're not musically inclined still isn't gonna be good. It doest mix "for you". If you're a good DJ, it makes mixing easier...
